Don’t worry. This is still a food blog, not a political soapbox.
I couldn’t ignore this event and cause though, and urge you not too either.
I am not a fan of any violence, certainly not racially motivated violence,so the reportage of the assaults that Indians have suffered has disturbed me. Whilst I am not about to debate if the assaults that have been occurring with alarming frequency across our city are indeed racially motivated, that is how it is being reported globally and it is threatening people’s sense of security and safety in the place they have chosen as their home,Melbourne.
Here is a way to have a voice through something Melbourne does best (food) and let the Indian (and wider) community here and abroad, and the media, know that we aren’t all racist.
I commend Mia Northrop for her initiative and invite you to click on the banner, read about it and spread the word.
You can also follow the cause on Twitter and help spread the word @vagainstv
Go on.
Tuck into some Tikka
Relish a Rogan Josh
Polish off some Pappadums
Devour some Dhal
Nibble on some Naan
Register your involvement, have dinner at your local Indian restaurant next week on February 24 and support Vindaloo Against Violence.

I’ve heard a little bit about this. Shall have to get Hamsley to joing me for some Indian next week then!
